Actions that will have friends asking, "is she ok?"
botox, a new piercing, and Invisalign removal: hot girl summer, unlocked
First I posted about botox, then my new piercing…is she well?
I am, thanks for asking. It’s funny, whenever I go through any major shifts or changes, I feel compelled to shake up my world a bit. Helpful? Unclear. Distracting? Yes! Here are some recent thoughts:
So, I did it. I got Botox. Many of my friends have been doing some form of neurotoxin treatment for 10+ years but I had been too scared! I held onto my botox virginity with pride. Then, one day, I kind of just wanted to see what all the fuss was about. I am extremely selective and particular and anxious about trying new things or putting anything unnecessary in my body (I literally won’t even take an Advil unless I am in extreme pain.) I entrusted Dr. Arthur Perry, a brilliant plastic surgeon, to inject me. He did an incredible job and I am VERY happy with the results.
Self-care is multidimensional. Just because I did botox, doesn’t mean I also can’t have a regiment filled with acupuncture (cc: my Nicole Kruck) and Gua Sha (Sandra Lanshin is the best), meditation, but also take Lexapro. We contain multitudes.
Piercings help me with healing. Every time I go through something really hard (be it a break up or transitional moment), I get a piercing. I am up to 7! My mom issued a warning that this was to be my “last one.” Thank you The Wildlike for taking such great care of me!
I got my Invisalign off! I did not expect the entire 19 week experience to be somehow, enjoyable? It had an element of self-care that was entirely unexpected: I had the prioritize the Invisalign schedule, which actually prioritized my schedule and felt like I was taking care of myself in a real way. Shout out to the best dentist in NYC: Dr. Alex.
Yours from the incoming heatwave in NY,
Missy
